Gary Yurkovich

Gary has an outstanding 30 year track record managing and growing high technology companies. He is currently the Founder and Executive Chairman of Espresso Capital, a venture debt fund providing financing to over 200 Canadian technology companies. He currently or previously served as a executive or member of the Board of Directors of Bit Stew Systems (exit to General Electric), Wolf Medical Systems (exit to Telus), Rapid Electric Vehicles (now, BrightSide Technologies (exit to Dolby Labs), Clevest Solutions, Creo Products (exit to Kodak) and BC Social Venture Partners. Gary remains an active angel investor and Board member for several companies.

John Nicola

John is the Chairman & CEO of Nicola Wealth Management, which currently manages over $3 billion in investments. A veteran of the financial services industry since 1974, John is nationally acknowledged as one of the leaders in estate and financial planning. A recipient of the 2011 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, he also has over 40 years of success and experience in wealth accumulation and management through the use of trusts, creative pension and insurance arrangements, and professional investment managers.

Howard Atkinson

Howard is a long standing authority in the investment management industry with over 25 years of experience. He is the former Founding Chair of the Canadian ETF Association and wrote the world's first book about ETFs. In 2010 he was awarded the 'Top Educator' title for fostering financial literacy among Canadians and is a long-time consumer advocate. He is very actively involved in the industry and recently retired from his position as President of Horizon ETF's. He is a past President of the Toronto CFA Society board of directors, as well as a member of the S&P/TSX Canada Index Advisory Panel.

Bernd Petak

After eight years as an engineer, Bernd graduated with an MBA from Richard Ivey School of Business. Subsequently, Bernd finished a ten-year tenure at Deloitte as a partner responsible for regional strategy and operations practice. He has provided strategy and operations advice to numerous technology companies, including acting as Director, COO, CFO or CEO to several. Being an active member of the Vancouver technology community, he is a mentor for several Vancouver-based accelerators and a formal adviser to a number of start-ups.

Lance Tracey

Lance is the co-founder of Sutton Group Realty and has been an early-stage investor in many successful technology startups. In addition to Sutton Group, he is also the co-founder for FullStack, Peer 1 Network, and Internet Direct. His most recent exit was with Peer 1 Hosting, which was acquired by Cogeco Cable for $526 million. Lance has a wide range of business expertise, including information services, broadband carriers, colocation, hosting and franchise real estate operations.

Paul Geyer

Paul is a prolific early-stage startup investor and won BC's 2010 Angel Investor of the Year award. A successful entrepreneur in the area of medicine and technology, Paul is currently the CEO of LightIntegra Technology Inc., a spin-off from Canadian Blood Services. In addition to his role at LightIntegra, Paul is Chairman at Neovasc, and is an active Angel investor in technology and life science companies. Over the past 20 years Paul founded and led two companies through their growth phase; both companies have grown to be anchor medical device companies in Vancouver.
